Paona 27, 1743

8O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer; Give ear, O God of Jacob!Selah

4Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; They will still be praising You.Selah

34But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God's throne;

35nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.

36Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black.

37But let your "Yes' be "Yes,' and your "No,' "No.' For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

38"You have heard that it was said, "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.'

39But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.

40If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also.

41And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.

42Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.

43"You have heard that it was said, "You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'

44But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,

45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

46For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?

47And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?

48Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

5For You, O God, have heard my vows; You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your name.

8So I will sing praise to Your name forever, That I may daily perform my vows.

1Now the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.

2Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him."

3Peter therefore went out, and the other disciple, and were going to the tomb.

4So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first.

5And he, stooping down and looking in, saw the linen cloths lying there; yet he did not go in.

6Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there,

7and the handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded together in a place by itself.

8Then the other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also; and he saw and believed.

9For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.

10Then the disciples went away again to their own homes.

11But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb.

12And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

13Then they said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him."

14Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus.

15Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?" She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, "Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away."

16Jesus said to her, "Mary!" She turned and said to Him, "Rabboni!" (which is to say, Teacher).

17Jesus said to her, "Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, "I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God."'

18Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things to her.

2Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;

3meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains,

4that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.

5Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time.

6Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

7Tychicus, a beloved brother, faithful minister, and fellow servant in the Lord, will tell you all the news about me.

8I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that he may know your circumstances and comfort your hearts,

9with Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They will make known to you all things which are happening here.

10Aristarchus my fellow prisoner greets you, with Mark the cousin of Barnabas (about whom you received instructions: if he comes to you, welcome him),

11and Jesus who is called Justus. These are my only fellow workers for the kingdom of God who are of the circumcision; they have proved to be a comfort to me.

12Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

13For I bear him witness that he has a great zeal for you, and those who are in Laodicea, and those in Hierapolis.

14Luke the beloved physician and Demas greet you.

15Greet the brethren who are in Laodicea, and Nymphas and the church that is in his house.

16Now when this epistle is read among you, see that it is read also in the church of the Laodiceans, and that you likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.

17And say to Archippus, "Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it."

18This salutation by my own hand--Paul. Remember my chains. Grace be with you. Amen.

9Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!

10My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience.

11Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord--that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.

12But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your "Yes" be "Yes," and your "No," "No," lest you fall into judgment.

13Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms.

14Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.

15And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

16Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

17Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.

18And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.

19Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back,

20let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.
